foundations

as i working as a makeup artist, many people ask me about products.
"what is your favourite foundation?"

and i answer 'Revlon colorstay foundation.'

you can buy any drugstore around you and it's cheaper than other name valued brands.
cheap, but the effect is better.

there are various colour range for cool, warm tones.

I told many friends around me about this product and they loved it too.
If you apply with a foundation brush, you could get best result.

when i was in makeup school, the director told us about good foundations.
And they all recommended revlon.
in fact, many makeup artist in the film or tv industry use it for actors and models.

i think good foundation needs to last long enough with no darkening effect.
also, not too thick or thin.

for those reasons, i love this foundation. ★★★★☆

I tried this bourjois 10 hour sleep effect foundation a year ago, and i think it's okay.
not so-----great and not bad , just okay.

this is pretty light foundation so if you have many to cover, then i would not recommend it.
but, if you want to just correct your overall skin tone and some little spots, then you would like it.
★★★☆☆

Bobbi bobbi bobbi~
Bobbi brown foundation is quite famous also in asian cosmetic market too.
there are many different lines of foundation in one brand.
i tried several different lines of bobbi brown, and i love luminous foundation for the best.
what i most love about this product is, it has quite 'light' texture but contains 'high' coverage.
you can use quite small amount of it for a whole face.
Bobbi brown has wide range of colours, and also there are many choices of good colour matched foundation for asian people too.

Also, i recommend to use foundation brush for this.

Next time, i will blog some main difference between apply with hand , sponge and brush.

special - making a mask

I designed chinese lion statue.

I spent almost 80hours for it. i really wanted to finish clean details of it and i love it!

after, sculpting process, mold making for final latex mask piece!

it was pretty hard to make all the details came through out the mold because as u can see, there were a lot of details..;p

the result of molding. latex mask~~
and compare to actual sculpted size, it shrinked a bit.

coloring~
my theme was...back side is actual aged looking statue and front side is more like living animal looking.

statue becoming alive? ;)
i punched some hairs to express alive looks and put some clear coat for the teeths.

If there is more chance to make some masks, i would love to do it !
it was pretty hard and took some times, but incredibly fun!

special effect - cuts, blood, victims

Those are all 'special' effect makeup for tv &film. well, we can use it in regular life of course.....lol

This is 'sick' or 'addict' makeup.

this is 'freezing' makeup. we can oftenly see in disaster movie.

bruise..bruise..bruise..

clean cut with wax.

This was for the character who was lost in the mountain for 24hours.

special effect - beard

beard, beard, beard~!
It is quite fun work to do. However, "making" a lace piece of moustache or beard is not very fun. lol
There are several ways to put beard on the face.
you can freely hand-apply with small amount of bundle of hairs.
This is easier and faster than making a lace pieces of beard.
on the other hand, making process is not an easy work and takes some times, but after you finish the pieces, applying time is much shorter than free hand-applying time.

mostly, for the TV and Film, makeup artists are using the lace pieces because we can use it as many time as we want if you maintain well. also, the shape of it is not change so it's a lot comfortable.

now let's compare both,

(before)

(free-hand apply)

(before)

(lace piece)

The left picture is 5 0'clock shadow. i used spounge and some brownish dark colour.

and the right side is the lace pieces. however, those pieces are not made for this specific model, so it's colour is not perfectly matching with the model. (darker)

however, applying time is much shorter than hand-applying time.

special effect - bald cap

I used plastic bald caps on both makeups.

-use gel and hair comb to sleek the hair down,
-see how is the bald cap size match with the model first and get rid of excess.
-and use adhessive on the clean face & get rid of the excess on the both ear sides.
- match face skin tone and head skin tone & use airbrush to make natural skin tone. (with freckles and some redness)

It was pretty amazing all the hair suddenly disappeared ;p
